LESSONS BRIAN BORU IRISH BAGPIPE AND DRUM BAND

We offer instruction on traditional Celtic bagpiping and drumming.

PIPING

To start you will need a practice chanter & music book. Please contact us for more information on which chanter to purchase & questions about cost. We will then pair you with an instructor and may give lessons as individually or as a group, depending on the available number of instructors. Pipe lessons are on Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. You are invited to stay & listen during band practice following lessons.

After mastering the practice chanter, you will need to purchase a set of pipes.

After mastering the pipes, you may audition in front of the band officers to join the band. Any student may audition at any time. If you pass the audition, you become a playing member. To become a full band member with voting privileges, you must then march with us for one full year, then you must be voted in at our annual band meeting.

DRUMMING

To start drum lessons, you will need a set of sticks and a drum pad. Please contact us for information on which sticks and pad to purchase. Drum lessons are from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We offer lessons on snare drumming, tenor drumming, and bass drumming.

After learning the basics on the pad, you will be given the opportunity to practice and learn on the drum. After mastering drumming, you may audition in front of the band officers to join the band. Any student may audition at any time. If you pass the audition, you become a playing member. In the spirit of promoting Irish culture, the Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band has offered Irish piping and drumming lessons to all interested people for more than 40 years.

And you don't have to be Irish to enjoy or learn Irish music! The Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band is open to anyone with an interest in learning the pipes or drums. Joining the band is easy!
